NASCAR star issues Ross Chastain threat after Sonoma incident

NASCAR star Ross Chastain might need to watch his back out on track at the next few races, with Daniel Suarez issuing a clear threat to his Cup Series teammate following Sunday's race at Sonoma.

On lap 45 of Sunday's Toyota/Save Mart 350, the Trackhouse Racing pair were running in 14th and 15th when they collided, with Chastain overcooking it into turn 11 and slamming into the back of Suarez's No. 99.

Suarez ultimately spun around as a result of his teammate's contact, with the Mexican driver losing 15 places before being able to spin around on track and get going in the right direction once again.

“You better hope I don’t get to him today,” Suarez told his team over the radio right after their coming together, with revenge on his mind.

Suarez was later informed that Chastain had apologized via his spotter, but post-race, no such apology was made publicly.

Suarez: I'll get Chastain back

Speaking post-race, Suarez made it clear that Chastain's apology via his spotter was not enough.

The Mexican driver revealed that he hoped that there would be a conversation between himself and Chastain over the incident ahead of next weekend's action, but that if there was not, he would take his revenge when he gets the chance.

"I hope so,” Suárez replied when asked if a chat between the two was warranted after their coming together.

“And if it doesn’t happen, he’s gonna get it back," Suarez finished emphatically.

Suarez went on to recover and finish the race in 14th position, with Chastain finishing down in 24th.

Trackhouse clearly had speed at the California track, however, with Shane van Gisbergen winning the race in the No. 88 Trackhouse Racing Chevrolet.
