NASCAR champ sends dire warning to Carson Hocevar after latest wreck

NASCAR champion Kevin Harvick has issued a warning to Cup Series star Carson Hocevar after his latest wreck with Ricky Stenhouse Jr. in Mexico City.

The pair had a second run-in last weekend, only two weeks after Hocevar wrecked Stenhouse in Nashville, where this time the 37-year-old was sent spinning and proceeded to deliver an colorful series of insults at the youngster.

Following their collision, NASCAR champion Harvick has warned Hocevar that if his aggressive racing continues Stenhouse may hit him when it hurts the most.

“It’s been a pretty one-way street as far as these incidents are working out and that means Hocevar into the back bumper of Stenhouse,” Harvick said on his Happy Hour podcast.

“And I think Ricky had enough, Hocevar was a lap down and that’s the part that Carson has to get better at, he has to have some common sense about the scenarios that he’s putting himself in.

“It’s going to be a day where he’s leading and he’s coming to lap Stenhouse and Stenhouse is going to wipe his a** out. That’s how these things work, especially when you get to having two or three of them.”

Hocevar controversy continues after Mexico City

Hocevar’s collision with Stenhouse was not the only incident he was involved in that caused controversy in Mexico City, after Spire Motorsports team were forced to apologise for the 20-year-old.

Whilst in the Mexico, Hocevar called the city a ‘s***hole’ on a live stream, as he complained about the logistics of NASCAR's event and said “it’d be an absolutely great experience” but only “if you [several complaints] out, it’s unbelievable. It’s great.”

As a result of his comments, Hocevar was given a $50,000 fine from the Spire Motorsports team and he is also required to take cultural-sensitivity and bias-awareness training.

Reportedly, the proceeds from the fine will go to the Mexican Red Cross, the United Way Mexico and Un Kilo de Ayuda - a charity that helps with children’s nutrition across rural communities.

Hocevar also issued his own statement on social media, where he concluded a lengthy post with an apology that read: “Count this as another lesson for me in a season I’ve learned so much. Don’t believe everything you hear without seeing it yourself.

“If anyone should give anyone or any place the benefit of the doubt it’s me. I’m sorry Mexico City. Consider me an ally going forward and an example of getting off Twitch and seeing things with my own two eyes.”
