Kevin Magnussen has claimed that the FIA race control is too easily influenced by drivers but does the Dane have a point.

After being involved in a minor incident with Lewis Hamilton on the opening lap of last weekend's Canadian Grand Prix, Magnussen was left with an endplate hanging off his front wing.

On the latest generation of car, the endplates are far larger than in previous years but both the Haas team and its driver felt they could continue with no major issues.

However, Esteban Ocon, the Alpine driver lapping behind Magnussen, felt this was dangerous and explained via team radio that he risked being hit by the part if it were to fall off the car entirely.

Shortly after sending this message, Magnussen was shown the black and orange flag that orders a driver to return to the pits to fix a problem.

Speaking after the race, the Dane expressed his opinion that race control is too easily influenced by drivers and that he would have been safe to continue on track.

Does he have a point? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
