F1 drivers' salary cap - should it be imposed?

The budget cap imposed upon the 10 teams by F1 is now in its second season and proving difficult for the sport's 'big three' in Mercedes, Red Bull and Ferrari to adhere to given rising costs across the board this year.

While this topic is one at the forefront of the teams' agenda, an interesting offshoot is the re-emergence of the possibility of a drivers' salary cap being imposed.

Naturally, it has drawn opposition from those concerned yet it is under serious consideration at some point in the future.

The obvious difficulty is ascertaining the level of the cap, particularly when you have drivers on varying lengths of contract, such as Max Verstappen who signed a new deal with Red Bull earlier this year that runs until 2028.
