Bottas fires warning at Stroll over racing etiquette

Valtteri Bottas has warned Lance Stroll 'that's not how you race' after the Aston Martin driver forced him off the road in the Australian Grand Prix.

Bottas started 12th and finished eighth in Melbourne, scoring points for the second time in three outings since his winter switch from Mercedes.

But the race was far from straightforward with the Finn blocked by Stroll's weaving before a separate incident where the Finn was forced off the track at turn three.

The Canadian was punished for weaving but not for forcing Bottas off the track.

“The weaving just made it really hard for me to decide where to go and it was a bit on the limit I guess," explained Bottas.

"Then the pass, obviously, forced me to go off the track so I don’t think that’s how you should race.

“But I still managed to get through and I think that cost me a bit of time for sure. Esteban [Ocon] otherwise could have been reachable but still, four points.”

Bottas 'wanting more' from Alfa Romeo

Alfa Romeo finished ninth in the constructors' standings last year but has equalled its 2021 points haul of 13 already this term.

“I mean, the pace of the car has been good and, of course, now it is the baseline we have and now I just want more," said Bottas.

“The main focus is just trying to get better.”
