Hamilton hit with second stewards' summons ahead of Saudi Arabian Grand Prix

Lewis Hamilton has been hit with a second stewards' summons ahead of the inaugural Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.

The seven-time F1 champion faces an initial investigation into ignoring double-waved yellow flags during the final practice session at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit.

Now the Mercedes driver also has to answer for allegedly impeding Haas driver Nikita Mazepin.

Immediately after crossing the line to start a cool-down lap, Hamilton first forced AlphaTauri's Pierre Gasly to take to the turn one run-off area as he closed in behind.

But worse was to follow as the Mercedes driver then reached the first of the twisty parts of the 27-turn, 6.1km circuit self-proclaimed as the 'fastest street track in F1'.

With Hamilton trundling through turn eight, Mazepin was forced to cut the corner, scything his way through the narrow gap available, with the Briton to his left and a wall to his right.

Asked by Haas as to his thoughts on the incident, FIA race director Michael Masi said: "Not great at all. I will deal with it directly with the team. I've also had a chat to them here because no flags of any form were shown through that sector."

Hamilton may yet be hit with a double-whammy penalty, although it is likely only a warning will be issued for this particular offence.
