McLaren would not engage in Mercedes Red Bull disrespect - Seidl
McLaren team principal Andreas Seidl does not believe he would stoop to the levels of disrespect involving Mercedes and Red Bull counterparts Toto Wolff and Christian Horner of late.
The duo have been embroiled in a slanging match this F1 season, often slating one another as well as suggesting each other's cars might not comply with the rules.
The nadir to date was reached across the recent Qatar Grand Prix weekend as the pair were engaged in a press conference that bristled with tension.
The culmination saw Horner in front of the stewards and warned as to his conduct for claiming a steward was "rogue" after the yellow-flag drama at the end of qualifying that led to a five-place grid drop for Max Verstappen.
Asked whether the tension between Horner and Wolff was natural given the situation or whether there needed to be more respect towards the FIA and stewards, Seidl said: "I can only speak for myself.
"If you watch everything which is ongoing at the moment, it is obviously clear there is a lot at stake and is different to the battles we are all in further back, which is great to a certain degree, for the fans, for the show.
“But I definitely think that some of the comments we have seen in recent weeks are definitely not something I could imagine would come from us in this situation.
"I think it is very important, and it doesn’t matter if you are fighting for wins or you are last, that you always keep the respect for your competitors, for the FIA, for Formula 1.
“We are in this together and it is [also] important to keep the respect up for all the volunteers out there who, in the end, help us to do these race weekends.”
