São Paulo Grand Prix: Confirmed starting grid with penalties applied

Lewis Hamilton will start the São Paulo Grand Prix from 10th on the Interlagos grid after a breathtaking recovery from the back of the pack in Saturday's sprint.

After being disqualified from qualifying for a technical infringement with his Mercedes, Hamilton made the most of the sprint to recover 15 places and finish fifth.

But with a five-place grid penalty for fitting his fifth internal combustion engine of the season, the seven-time F1 champion will line up 10th.

Following his victory in the sprint, Mercedes team-mate Valtteri Bottas will start from pole position alongside Red Bull's Max Verstappen on the front row.

Ferrari's Carlos Sainz, who made the most of soft tyres at the start of the sprint, is third ahead of the second Red Bull of Sergio Perez.

All promoted a place by virtue of Hamilton's demotion are McLaren's Lando Norris, Charles Leclerc in his Ferrari, AlphaTauri's Pierre Gasly, Alpine's Esteban Ocon and the Aston Martin of Sebastian Vettel.

Further down the grid, Alfa Romeo's Kimi Raikkonen, who was due to start 18th, now sets off from the pitlane following a rear-wing change, elevating Haas duo Mick Schumacher and Nikita Mazepin up one place.
