Coulthard world record broken - watch this amazing video
There are some things that just have to be seen to be believed - and this is definitely one of them!
In 2012, former F1 driver David Coulthard and golfer Jake Shepherd set a new world record for driving a golf ball into a moving car, set at 273 yards. How some people come up with these ideas is beyond us.
Well, nine years later, that record belonging to Coulthard and Shepherd has finally been broken by English golfer Marcus Armitage, in tandem with BTCC race winner and BRDC member Paul O'Neill, with the new record now at 303 yards.
At Elvington Airfield in Yorkshire, with O'Neill driving a BMW M8 Competition Coupé, the duo went through numerous attempts.
At one stage a ball landed inside the car, only for the duo to be told they were a metre or so short - and after Armitage had stripped for the camera in celebration!
With further attempts as time ticks on, two bounce out of the car, while a further three hit and crack the windscreen
Finally, Armitage lands 'the money shot' inside the car, with the distance measured at 303 yards. Thankfully, Armitage doesn't strip again and instead celebrates by joining O'Neill in the BMW for a few donuts.
If you want to skip the build-up - although it is good to watch the full video below - you can catch the new world record shot from six minutes.
