Vettel-Ferrari rift exaggerated - Raikkonen
Sebastian Vettel will leave Ferrari at the end of 2020
Kimi Raikkonen doubts the breakdown in the relationship between Sebastian Vettel and the Ferrari Formula 1 team is as bad as is being reported.
Raikkonen, who spent four seasons as Vettel's team-mate at Ferrari before leaving at the end of the 2018 campaign to join Alfa Romeo, revealed he spoken briefly with his the four-time F1 champion ahead of the season opener in Austria at the weekend.
"When we spoke it was before the start [of the race] and that's all I know. I don't know what's going on there," said Raikkonen.
"It's none of my business, and I think it's unfair to comment if someone is treated badly or not because I don't know what's going on. I doubt that they have as bad of a relationship as people are making out.
"You leave the team, or you choose to leave the team, and we'll see what happens in the future, not just from him but I wouldn't put too much on saying how difficult it is for him right now."
Raikkonen, who has himself twice left the Scuderia, added that in his experience, Ferrari will continue to treat both Vettel and Charles Leclerc equally and not shut the 33-year-old German out in the cold.
The Finn commented: "I'm sure that they will get exactly the same treatment, both of them. It's in their [Ferrari's] benefit to try to get the best result from both cars, so I don't see why they would do anything else."
