Kvyat quiet on Gasly replacement rumours

Daniil Kvyat has remained quiet on the increasing rumours that he is being lined up to replace Pierre Gasly at Red Bull.

After Daniel Ricciardo announced his departure from Red Bull to Renault, Gasly was fast-tracked to promotion to the team from Toro Rosso, but has struggled since his arrival, especially in comparison to team-mate Max Verstappen who drives the same car.

After the opening nine races, Gasly is sixth in the drivers’ championship, but is some distance away from Charles Leclerc in fifth.

Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko has defended his driver on numerous occasions, and has denied speculation that Kvyat will replace him.

Kvyat, himself, has now commented, but he isn’t giving much away.

“I do not look at other teams,” the Russian said ahead of the British GP.

“When the right moment comes, we will look at next season, negotiate and make a decision. For now everything is very calm and develops as it should. I have no news on this topic.”

Kvyat has accumulated 10 points in the 2019 championship so far and is down in 14th, but has impressed with his maturity compared to previous seasons.
