Ocon set for three jobs in 2019

Esteban Ocon could have three jobs in 2019, despite seeming likely to miss out on a race seat in Formula 1. According to Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff, the Silver Arrows junior could be named as a test driver for three teams.

With Robert Kubica reportedly in pole position to be signed as Williams' second driver in 2019, Ocon has run out of options for a race seat.

The Frenchman will make way at Force India next year to clear space for Lance Stroll, who will join the team following his father's takeover earlier this year.

Although Williams and Force India have not hired Ocon, their engine deals with Mercedes could ensure that the Frenchman will get some track time in 2019.

"He could be a test driver for us, Force India and maybe Williams. And he will sit a lot in the simulator," Wolff told Auto Motor und Sport.

Ocon is expected to be named Mercedes' reserve driver for 2019 and he has been tipped as potentially having agreed to replace Valtteri Bottas to partner Lewis Hamilton in 2020.

His Mercedes ties led to much suspicion last weekend when a collision with Max Verstappen in Brazil helped Hamilton to win, but both Force India and Mercedes were quick to dismiss any conspiracy theories – some of which emanated from Red Bull.
