Analysis of the Formula 1 points tables from the past three years emphasizes the advantage enjoyed by Mercedes, Red Bull and Ferrari.

A table of data produced by Aidan Reagh has shown that Mercedes and Ferrari have consistently scored more than a single point per million euros spent over the past three years.

Red Bull fall just short of this total having scored 1.2 points per million spent in 2018, but only 0.85 and 0.94 points per million in 2017 and 2019 respectively.

In the three year period, the only other team to have topped the one-point marker is Force India, scoring 1.29 points per million in 2017 - a statistic that, if the data included the 2016 season, would likely have been equaled as the team achieved back-to-back fourth place finishes in the constructors' standings.

The lowest return on investment comes from Williams.

Directly comparing season to season, the Williams budget reportedly dropped from €185 million 2017 to just €132m in 2019. The reduced budget was also reflected in the points return from each season, and this figure dropped from 0.450 in 2017 to 0.01 in 2019.
