When can Lewis Hamilton win the F1 world title?
Lewis Hamilton has been odds-on to win a sixth world championship for much of the 2019 campaign, but the crowning moment is now near.
Mercedes secured their sixth straight constructors' championship as Valtteri Bottas won the Japanese Grand Prix.
That result also eliminated all drivers from the individual race, except for Hamilton and Bottas, ensuring Mercedes will break Ferrari's record for consecutive title doubles.
Any Bottas momentum was checked by Hamilton winning in Mexico, although the Finn joined him on the podium to at least keep the fight going for another week.
Can Lewis Hamilton win the drivers' title in Austin?
Oh, you betcha.
Hamilton needs to finish eighth or higher at COTA and the world championship is his, regardless of what Bottas does.
It would see Hamilton secure the title in the United States for the second time, having also done so with a race win in 2015.

Can Valtteri Bottas win the drivers' title?
He can, but the Finn needs snookers from here. He must now win every remaining race, with a bonus point, and hope Hamilton somehow finishes 10th or lower in all three of them.
