Steiner: I can't afford Netflix to watch Drive to Survive!
Guenther Steiner has joked that Haas’ budget is so small compared to other teams that he can’t even pay for Netflix to watch himself on ‘Drive to Survive’.
Last year, the show made its debut on the streaming service and Steiner proved to be one of the most popular aspects of it with fans, who appreciated his honesty, humour, and down-to-earth demeanour.
Despite this, the Haas team principal says he has never actually watched the show himself.
"No I haven't seen it! And I don't want to, I'm not going to watch it. I can't afford Netflix because of our limited budget!" he facetiously said to F1i.com
"Seriously, I can pay for that but I just didn't want to see myself. Originally, I told them [the Netflix crew] ‘you can film whatever you want’ but I have no input on what to use or not.
"They said ‘we did a lot with you guys,’ so that’s good. My wife thinks I don’t look good!"

The show boosted Steiner’s popularity among F1 fans enormously since being aired, and he is happy to get the opportunity to receive some adulation from supporters, whom he always attempts to make time for.
"I didn't think it would have that effect. As I said before, you need to spend time with fans and if they ask for autographs, I'm always pretty patient with them. That’s what it’s all about."
The next series of ‘Drive to Survive’ has already started filming, and will now include footage involving Mercedes and Ferrari, who opted not to be featured in series one.
