Vettel: Ferrari need difficult Hungarian GP
Sebastian Vettel hopes that the Hungarian Grand Prix will prove to be a difficult encounter to manage, in the hope that it will open up opportunities for Ferrari to muscle in on the podium fight.
Vettel qualified fifth at the Hungaroring, with team-mate Charles Leclerc in fourth, but both were half a second adrift of Max Verstappen's pole time.
The German had initially shown promising pace at a track not expected to suit the SF90, which has proven mighty in straight lines this year, but sluggish through the corners.
And with the Hungaroring one of F1's most twisting venues, Vettel says the one-lap deficit came as no surprise.
"[It's] not frustrating. We saw it coming for a long time," Vettel said.
"It's a trend that we are not so fast in the corners, we are fastest in the straights. Here there are more corners than straights, so you can do the maths."
Turning attentions to the race, Vettel added: "I hope it's very tough on tyres. I hope it will be super-hot and very, very difficult in the race.
"That way at least we can put some pressure and maybe do something different. If it's straightforward and the tyres last and it's one-stop, then a bit less exciting.
"Overtaking is possible here, but we need to be faster. We'll see what happens."
