Horner to lead F1? 'I love racing'
Red Bull team principal Christian Horner has scotched any suggestion that he could be in line to replace Chase Carey as Formula 1's CEO.
Both Horner and Mercedes counterpart Toto Wolff have been linked to the role if Carey's contract is not extended beyond 2020, having overseen victory of the last nine seasons' worth of championships between them.
However, the Red Bull boss says that going racing, rather than putting together its show, is his main priority.
"I enjoy racing. My commitment is with Red Bull," Horner said. "There is a lot more I want to achieve from a competitive position and my objective is to get Red Bull back into a consistent winning position, challenging for championships.
"I am not aware that Chase is about to step down imminently. There is a lot of speculation but I think it is exactly that.
"As far as I am concerned I am very happy doing what I am doing and my focus and commitment is very much on getting Red Bull back into a competitive, consistently winning situation."
Liberty Media's takeover of F1 has not been universally accepted by fans, but Horner believes the new man in charge has made impressive progress.
He said: "It's Liberty's business at the end of the day. Whoever they chose to run it for them is their choice, it's not down to the teams, it's their business, it's their investment.
"I think that Chase is doing a great job. I think he's learned quickly about Formula 1.
"If you look at the actual show now, the crowd sizes, the attendance, everything that's going on around the sport, there's a lot of great things happening."
