Hamilton, Mercedes set new records in Monaco
But Sebastian Vettel denied them another benchmark...
Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes made fresh entries into Formula 1's record books at the Monaco Grand Prix. Lewis Hamilton took another all-time record from Michael Schumacher, although the Silver Arrows were denied an outright benchmark by Sebastian Vettel in Sunday's race.
Hamilton took his 85th pole position on the Saturday, just his second in Monte Carlo and second of 2019.
Crucially, it was the five-time world champion's 59th qualifying triumph with Mercedes.
That surpasses the previous record for pole positions secured with one team, which Schumacher of course built up in a decade at Ferrari.

Valtteri Bottas joined Hamilton on the front row in Monaco, putting Mercedes on the brink of another all-time record.
Their 62nd front-row lockout in F1 is equal best with Williams, Ferrari and McLaren.
Hamilton on the race, with Sebastian Vettel and Bottas joining him on the podium after Max Verstappen was bumped down from second place by a time penalty.
It ended Mercedes' perfect start to the season which had encompassed five one-two finishes.
That run is an F1 record from the start of the season, but matched in-season runs of Ferrari in 1952 and 2002, as well as Mercedes themselves in 2014 and across the 2016 and 2016 seasons.
Vettel nudging ahead f Bottas after the Finn was punctured by Verstappen's unsafe pit-stop release ultimately cost the current Silver Arrows a solo spot in that entry of the records.
