Williams confirm damage done to Kubica's car

Williams have confirmed that they will have the spare parts necessary to fix Robert Kubica's car after he ploughed into the barriers at the castle section of the Baku City Circuit in the first segment of qualifying for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.

Williams' already depleted resources were put to the test by George Russell suffering chassis damage at the hands of a loose drain cover in Friday practice.

And the team's mechanics were given another lengthy assignment when Kubica clipped the barriers on the entry to the tightest section of the Azerbaijan track, leaving him helpless to smash into the wall.

Remarkably, pole position favourite Charles Leclerc suffered a similar crash at the exact same spot in Q2.

Williams qualified slowest, as they have done at every race so far this year, but this weekend has been one to forget more than most.

However, Kubica will be able to get on-track for Sunday's race, despite the incident raising concerns that Williams may have already been short on the parts required.

A tea statement read: "We are currently working to fix the front end of Robert’s car.

"We will replace both front corners, brakes and steering column on his car following the accident, but we have replacement parts available for all of this."
