NASCAR star Stewart Friesen was hospitalized after suffering multiple injuries in a terrifying modified crash in Canada late on Monday (July 28).

The 42-year-old Craftsman Truck Series driver and team owner was competing in the SuperDIRTcar King of the North race in Drummondville, Quebec when the horrifying incident took place.

Friesen was running wide on the track in the very early stages when he was catapulted into the air, flipping multiple times before finally coming to a stop in a flaming wreck. The race was immediately red flagged.

Friesen injuries confirmed

In the immediate aftermath of the wreck, Friesen's team confirmed that he had been hospitalized and that he was alert and talking.

On Tuesday morning we got confirmation of the multiple injuries he had suffered, in an official statement released by wife Jessica.

She said: "As most of you know by now, Stewart was involved in a multi-car accident at Autodrome Drummond in Quebec, Canada last night.

"CT scans have come back clear of any head, neck or spine injuries. Unfortunately he is still in a tremendous amount of pain.

"Stewart has suffered an unstable/open-book pelvis fracture, meaning his pelvis is broke in two or more places, with a large hematoma on the area.

"Stewart also has a fracture right leg. Both of these injuries will require surgery. Stewart was transferred to a larger hospital this morning for those procedures.

"His vitals are stable, and after receiving additional pain medication, he is in better spirits and resting.

"Thank you to Tommy Conroy and Martin Roy, who stayed with Stewart last night. Thank you to everyone who has reached out and sent prayers and positive thoughts.

"Thank you to the manufacturers who have made dirt modifieds as safe as possible, and to the track crew for their patience and hard work getting Stew out of the car."

Friesen has competed in 200 races in the Truck Series, currently competing for the Halmar Friesen team. He has four career wins, including one in 2025.

Monday’s wreck came hot on the heels of his disqualification from Friday’s Truck Series race in Indianapolis.

Friesen had finished third in the TSport 200, but his No. 52 truck failed to meet the height requirement, measuring too low in the front during post-race inspection. Friday was also Friesen's 42nd birthday.
