NASCAR Results Today: Kyle Larson denied at Indianapolis as Bubba Wallace secures dramatic overtime victory

23XI star Bubba Wallace survived a late fuel scare to take a dramatic overtime victory at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Sunday, breaking a 100-race winless streak in the process.

With five laps to go in the Brickyard 400, Wallace looked like he was heading for a relatively comfortable win after some excellent driving throughout the race. However, the weather intervened, with the red flag eventually coming out due to rain and the race subsequently going to overtime.

Running light on fuel, the No. 23 was deemed to have enough gas to get through one restart, not two, and after surviving a charge from Kyle Larson when the lights went green, the job looked done, before another caution was thrown.

During that caution, Wallace was told by his crew chief that he needed to pit for fuel, but then, ahead of the restart, was told to stay out, with the 23 team instead opting to gamble.

That gamble certainly paid off, with Wallace once again able to hold Larson off in the closing stages and make it to the black and white checkered flag without running out of fuel, taking a hard-earned victory and locking himself into the 2025 playoffs after weeks and weeks of nervously looking over his shoulder at the cut line.

Larson came home second in the No. 5, just 0.222 seconds behind Wallace, with Denny Hamlin finishing third overall, a remarkable comeback considering he started the race at the rear of the field in a backup car.

Elsewhere, we should mention that Ty Gibbs now finds himself $1 million richer, winning the inaugural In-Season Challenge and scooping the seven-figure sum that comes with it after finishing 21st, seven places above Ty Dillon, whom he was competing against in the final round.

With that said, let’s take a look at the full race and stage results below!
