One-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Kevin Harvick has opened up on Michael Jordan's future in the sport, as his 23XI Racing team continues to fight NASCAR in the courts.

Harvick warned that the team's state of flux has been impacting their processes and results, particularly with the team losing its charter status recently.

Jordan's team, along with Front Row Motorsports, have suffered a number of legal setbacks as the season has continued, with their charters stripped in the latest blow. NASCAR may even be able to sell those charters on after a court date at the end of August.

Harvick claimed that the legal struggle appears to have gone in a direction the NBA Hall of Famer didn't see coming, although he backed Jordan to fight through the 'very difficult' team dynamic to stay in the sport he loves.

Harvick: I don't know how it'll work out for MJ

Speaking on his Happy Hour podcast, Harvick said: “I think that he’s been in some moments like this, with the NBAPA and the league, in the past. But man, it sure seems like it’s not going the way that they thought it was going to go, as far as - NASCAR is not the NBA. They’re fighting a different fight. I don’t know how it’s going to work out for him this time.

“I think it’s affecting their teams. The performance of their teams. Where they are right now, being unchartered, losing their charters - how do you sell sponsorship? How do you keep your drivers? How do you keep your employees? I don't think this has gone the way they thought it was going to go, and now it’s all becoming more challenging.”

On 23XI's ability to keep his team together, he added: “Everybody wants to be in the middle of something that Michael Jordan is doing. You want to have cars that are winning, to put your name on the side, which is where they were last year, not this year. Denny’s obviously in the middle of it, winning in a Joe Gibbs car. He’s balancing all of that.

“But I think the team dynamic has become very difficult. So, I don’t know how frustrated Michael gets, but everything that we’ve heard him say is he’s in it for the long haul, and we’ll find out.”
