Teams reveal incredible one-off uniforms for Bristol Motor Speedway event

Two teams have revealed their one-off uniforms for an historic event at Bristol Motor Speedway next month.

Major League Baseball's Cincinnati Reds and Atlanta Braves will have the venue transformed for the Speedway Classic in early August, and have revealed some new uniform designs in response.

The August 2nd game at The Last Great Colosseum will be the first ever MLB game played in the state, with the Reds acting as the nominal home team for the historic game – before the whole stadium is reworked back into shape for September's Cup Series race.

The teams' concessions to the moment are bold jersey numbers meant to look like NASCAR car numbers (and they're done a great job!) as well as some new details on caps and helmets; Atlanta sporting red flames on the top of their visors, while Cincinnati featuring checkered racing flags.

Sale: Soak the experience in, it might not happen again

Atlanta's reigning AL Cy Young winner Chris Sale revealed his excitement for the event when speaking last week at the All-Star Media Day, although he will not pitch in the game after fracturing his rib cage in mid-June.

“You play in the same 30 ballparks, which is still a lot of fun," he said. "You go to Yankees Stadium, the new Texas Stadium and all the ones in between. You appreciate it, right.

“But, being able to do something that’s a little bit different – you appreciate it a little bit more, you soak it all in and know that this is something that might not happen again – or if it does, it will be a very small margin. You just try to appreciate it.”

MLB is hoping that attendance for the huge event could break baseball's all-time attendance record, currently set at 115,300 for a 2008 pre-season game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and then-reigning champion Boston Red Sox at the LA Coliseum.
