NASCAR have announced their final verdict on a controversial pit road incident at Sonoma last weekend.

Brad Keselowski's pit crew got into it with Ty Gibbs' team after a pit stop later in the second stage, with Gibbs accused of squeezing the No. 6 car's crew too tight.

Gibbs even clipped a tire held by carrier Telvin McClurkin, apparently delaying Keselowski's stop slightly, but NASCAR have concluded that nobody involved in the incident has any case to answer.

The decision was made on the day that Gibbs wouldn't be penalized for the incident, but it wasn't until Wednesday that NASCAR confirmed that nobody would be punished for the escalation between the two teams.

Gibbs: That's the price you pay for pushing the limits

The No. 54 driver spoke about the incident after the race, saying: "By NASCAR rules, I'm the lead car. We have these orange lines, I have to go around those orange lines and I have right-of-way. (The pit crew) is on the wall for a reason, they jump for a reason and they kind of get out of the way.

"Those guys like to push it and that's kind of the consequence you pay. That's unfortunate for them that they got penalized. Nothing malicious."

While the No. 6 crew and No. 54 crew have skated free, NASCAR has confirmed that the No. 51 Rick Ware Racing team have been hit with two suspensions to their crew under Section 8.8.10.4.C (Tires and Wheels) of the NASCAR Rule Book, after Cody Ware's wheel fell off a couple of laps after a pit stop.

Crew members Marquill Osborne and De'Quan Hampton will now miss the next two Cup Series championship events, including this weekend's action at Dover Motor Speedway and the following weekend at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
