McLaren star suffers major championship blow after shocking Canadian Grand Prix incident

Lando Norris, Oscar Piastri, McLaren, Netherlands, 2024

After another dramatic weekend of F1 action at the Canadian Grand Prix, it's time to take a look at how the 2025 drivers' and constructors' standings are shaping up.

The latest rankings do not make for good viewing for Lando Norris, either, who has lost serious ground at the top of the drivers' championship following his collision with Oscar Piastri in Montreal.

Norris now trails his team-mate Oscar Piastri by 22 points heading to the next race in Austria, with the Australian star now the clear favorite, if he wasn't already, to take the championship.

In further bad news for Norris, with their respective first and second-place finishes on Sunday, George Russell and Max Verstappen have also closed the gap on the McLaren star. Verstappen now trails the Brit by just 21 points, whilst Russell sits 40 points behind.

In the constructors' championship, despite Norris' retirement, McLaren maintain a very healthy lead at the top, 175 points clear of their closest rivals, Mercedes, even despite the Silver Arrows' one-three finish in Canada.

With that said, let's take a look at the latest standings from both championships, in full!
