Danica Patrick quizzed by NASCAR star's wife on relationship status, love and dating

Former NASCAR star turned analyst Danica Patrick has issued an update on her love life, in a podcast with Haley Dillon.

Podcaster Dillon, who is also the wife of NASCAR star Ty Dillon, has had a number of esteemed guests on her Believe in the Good podcast, and in the latest episode she welcomed Patrick.

The politically-controversial 43-year-old was a NASCAR trailblazer in her day, becoming the first female to claim a NASCAR Cup Series pole position at the 2013 Daytona 500, and beating Janet Guthrie's record for the most top-ten finishes by a woman in the Cup Series back in 2015.

She raced full time in NASCAR's premier series between 2012-2017, and also made a name for herself in IndyCar and the NASCAR Xfinity Series (then Nationwide).

Patrick has become involved in promoting certain political figures and causes via social media since retiring from racing, and showed her support for Donald Trump during the President's 2024 election campaign.

In a sit down with Dillon, Patrick spoke passionately about her views, as well as opening up on her relationship status, in what Dillon described as a 'racing wives and racing women' podcast.

Asked if she is single, Patrick confirmed that she was, and then was asked about if she wanted to be with someone.

"Oh yeah," Patrick replied. "I love relationships. I love travelling with someone, I love adventuring.

"I love doing the monotony of life. I love grocery shopping, I love cooking, I like doing all that, cuddling. There’s some important elements, some of it ends up being a matching lifestyle.

"I’m at the point in my life where I can go a lot of places and do a lot of things, and so having someone that’s able to do that is important. To be able to go somewhere for a week or two, or travel and go places.

"Also, if you don’t live in the same place, how does that look? How can you bridge that gap.

"Then what happens with that is the way that I like to do all of those things tends to be pretty nice. You travel and you do it well, so if they aren’t financially…”

"You don’t want to fly last class next to the bathroom," Dillon intervened, with Patrick agreeing.

Patrick talks about 'safety' in dating

Former NASCAR racer Patrick - who achieved seven NASCAR Cup Series top-10's and seven IndyCar podiums including a victory - then went on to talk about meeting up with people for dates.

"It’s not that I mind paying because there’s been so many times that I have," she continued. "But what ends up happening in that dynamic is that the man feels less of a man and so it can prove to be a little harder even though both people can be like it’s all good it’s all fine.

"It’s like a primordial nature to men wanting to provide and I want that too. There’s this whole thing around safety. It’s not safety in the sense that I’m not going to get hurt because no one’s showing up for that on purpose, that should be assumed. It’s more about being able to go, can I as a woman just not plan things, can I just be the one that just shows up, can I be the one that doesn’t have to pick up the tab and decide how much to tip….can I just not do, because when I do, I get more of a masculine state because you have to.

"You’re organizing, planning, checking, you’re making sure you’re like doing all the things, so that’s kind of the safety element."
