NASCAR star Kyle Larson was left fuming at his Cup Series rival Denny Hamlin during Sunday's race at Michigan.

Hamlin would eventually go on to win the FireKeepers Casino 400 after an exciting late battle with William Byron at Michigan International Speedway, but on the way to the victory, he got on the wrong side of the No. 5.

At one point during stage two, Larson was on the outside of the No. 11, with Hamlin getting loose as he passed, which sparked an irate reaction from the No. 5 over the radio as the pair nearly collided.

"Look out the f*****g windshield Denny, instead of the f*****g mirror," Larson fumed.

During the heat of a race, anything goes over team radio, with drivers under pressure to perform and going at huge speeds. But, it must be said that this is not the first time that Larson and Hamlin have had a sly dig at one another.

After winning at Bristol Motor Speedway ahead of Hamlin earlier this year, which prevented the Joe Gibbs Racing star from winning three consecutive races, Larson said post-race: "Glad to stop his [Hamlin's] three-peat. We hate to see him win as I'm sure you guys [the crowd] do too."

Hamlin jokingly hit back that he was glad that Larson had been beaten in the Xfinity Series race that weekend which ultimately prevented him from doing the sweep at Bristol.

“His post-race comments about keeping me from the three in a row and you know we don't like to see that and you fans don't either, now I’m like p**s on your triple, your sweep," Hamlin said.

“I’m glad Chandler Smith beat you."
