Bottas 'not mourning' lack of F1 title with Mercedes

Valtteri Bottas is adamant he will not be mourning the fact he failed to win an F1 title during his time with Mercedes.

Whilst Bottas felt that for the most part his five years with Mercedes were "a failure" due to him not clinching the "big chunk of gold", as he described it, he did feel that "looking back I tried everything I could have done".

With Bottas' time now at an end with Mercedes and the Finn starting a new venture with Alfa Romeo, asked whether missing out on the title would continue to hurt, speaking in an interview with GPFans, he replied: "I feel like with a new chapter in my career with a new team, I don't think that's going to be an issue at all.

"I have a new interest and lots of things to work on, so I don't think I'll be mourning, what's the word, like being sad in the winter. I think I'll just be looking forward to an exciting future."

Bottas is eager to focus on the positives of joining Alfa Romeo where he has been given the stability of a two-year deal compared to the rolling one-year contract he had to contend with at Mercedes.

"It's a new chapter, a bit like what it was when I started Formula 1 with Williams, or when I moved to Mercedes," assessed Bottas.

"Now it's again for me a big change, a change in your team and being in the role that they promised to give me. This for me is really, really interesting and exciting."
