Verstappen "calm" ahead of potential Saudi F1 championship decider
Max Verstappen has maintained he is feeling "calm" ahead of the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, his first opportunity to secure the Formula 1 world title.
With just two races remaining of the 2021 season, Verstappen leads Lewis Hamilton by only eight points.
After the sprint in Brazil, the margin stood at 21 but back to back victories for Hamilton in the São Paulo Grand Prix itself and in Qatar have seen the Mercedes driver ramp up the pressure.
Despite having Hamilton breathing down his neck, Verstappen is determined not to let anything phase him.
"I’m feeling calm, I know that I will always try to do the best that I can and we’ll just find out where we are going to end up," said Verstappen.
"Nothing has been decided yet and we are all up for the challenge, there’s still a lot of racing left to do and we are going to give it our all that’s for sure.
"It’s going to be an exciting end to the season."
The season will conclude in Abu Dhabi on December 12 but with major revisions made to that track that could favour Mercedes' with Hamilton's "spicy" engine, the title race remains on a knife-edge.
