Horner summoned to FIA stewards for sporting code breach

Red Bull team principal Christian Horner has been summoned to the stewards' office at the Qatar Grand Prix for alleged breaches of the FIA sporting code.

After watching Max Verstappen recover from a five-place grid penalty to finish second at the Losail International Circuit, Horner has been ordered in front of the stewards.

The summons issued by the FIA cite alleged breaches of "article 12.2.1 f) and 12.2.1 k) of the FIA International Sporting Code.

Both articles refer to words or actions that could "damage" the FIA.

Article 12.2.1.f reads: "Any words, deeds or writings that have caused moral injury or loss to the FIA, its bodies, its members or its executive officers, and more generally on the interest of motor sport and on the values defended by the FIA."

12.2.1.k clarifies this is towards "licence-holders, officials" or other FIA personnel.

Prior to the Qatar race, after Verstappen was handed a grid penalty for ignoring double-waved yellow flags in qualifying, Horner referred to an FIA "balls up" and added, "there needs to be some grown-ups making grown-up decisions."
