Mazepin to miss FP2 after Haas chassis change

Haas driver Nikita Mazepin will miss second practice for the Qatar Grand Prix after damaging his chassis in FP1.

The Russian's 'new' chassis, with which he has found more pleasure since being introduced after the summer break, sustained damage during F1's first outing at the Losail International Circuit, enforcing a change.

This will rule Mazepin out of the most important practice session of the weekend, with the 60-minute outing run under floodlights in the dark, providing more representative conditions ahead of qualifying and the race.

Mazepin will revert back to the "heavy" chassis from the beginning of the season, one with which he held a grudge throughout the first half of the campaign with a belief team-mate Mick Schumacher had preferential equipment.

It is as yet unclear whether the damaged chassis is repairable ahead of the final two races in Saudi Arabia and Abu Dhabi, although Mazepin will be forced to complete the current weekend in the 'old' chassis.
