McLaren Turkish struggles highlight why team must "enjoy" positives - Seidl
McLaren team principal Andreas Seidl has explained his team's difficult weekend at the Turkish Grand Prix only served as a reminder as to why the team must enjoy the positive moments.
McLaren entered the Istanbul race on the back of a stunning one-two in Italy and a pole in Russia where the team had also been in contention for the win.
However, from first practice onwards in Turkey, McLaren's difficulties were on full display with Lando Norris finishing seventh and, after a Q1 exit on Saturday, Daniel Ricciardo 13th.
The return of six points was McLaren's third-lowest of the year after Hungary [zero] and the Netherlands [one].
"It confirms we have a good way to go and that is why we have to enjoy these moments that we had with the victory in Monza or with the pole position in Sochi because that is a great reward for the hard work everyone is putting in," explained Seidl.
"This extra motivation, especially after weekends like this one, we keep working hard to have the Monza success more often in the future."
As McLaren toiled, Ferrari registered 16 points to close the gap for third in the standings to just 7.5.
"I always try to have internally and externally a clear, realistic picture of where we are as a team, with our car and the way we work together, with our organisation, with our culture and with our infrastructure," added Seidl.
"In the end, this weekend was a confirmation of this realistic picture that I have, which is good because we have made good steps forward already these last few years."
