Red Bull reveals stunning Honda tribute livery for Turkish GP

Red Bull has revealed it will run a special livery at this weekend's Turkish Grand Prix dedicated to outgoing power unit manufacturer Honda.

The championship-contending team will change to a mainly white-coloured car at Istanbul Park for a one-off change that was originally supposed to pay tribute to its engine supplier at the Japanese Grand Prix.

The Suzuka event was scheduled for this weekend before being cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic, with Turkey filling the gap.

Honda is withdrawing from F1 at the end of the season with this season's power unit providing a platform for Red Bull to challenge Mercedes for the title.

Team principal Christian Horner said: “We had all been looking forward to giving Honda’s Japanese fans a chance to celebrate our extremely successful relationship in Formula One, on home soil at Suzuka.

"With the race falling victim to the pandemic, we just couldn’t let the weekend pass without paying tribute to Honda and its amazing home fans by bringing a little bit of its heritage to Istanbul.

"The livery chosen for our cars pays homage to Honda’s remarkable F1 journey and hopefully we can give fans another victory in those legendary colours this weekend.”

The livery harks back to the Honda RA272 in which Richie Ginther secured the Japanese manufacturer's first F1 victory in 1965 at the Mexican Grand Prix.
