Grosjean urged by French fire service to become volunteer fireman after latest incident

Following Romain Grosjean's heroics in escaping with his life from his burning Haas in last year's Bahrain Grand Prix, you would think the Frenchman would want to stay away from flames.

But Grosjean was back in the thick of fire-filled action during the second IndyCar race in Detroit on Sunday after being forced to pull over his Dale Coyne-Rick Ware Racing machine after the brakes set alight.

While this incident was far less dramatic than seven months ago, after managing to extract himself from the car, Grosjean quickly attempted to search for an extinguisher in a bid to deal with the flames himself.

As a marshal crew arrived to deal with the fire, Grosjean can be seen wrestling over his extinguisher with one of the team.

Grosjean's actions have since prompted a humorous reply from the official Twitter account of the French fire service - the Pompiers de France.

Its message read: "Romain, if you want to be a volunteer firefighter, just go to the nearest fire station….

"We will welcome you there ... you definitely have all the skills that go well in addition to being fire resistant!"

As Grosjean noted in response to the original post from IndyCarOnNBC: "I just care about my racing cars."
