Ferrari expect imminent F1 sprint race announcement
Ferrari team principal Mattia Binotto believes Formula 1 will be able to announce its sprint race plans "in the coming days".
The Saturday spectacles have been touted for three race meetings this season as trial events, with the British, Italian and Brazilian Grands Prix earmarked for the experiment.
Despite further discussions being needed following the most recent meeting between the teams and F1, Binotto is confident the plans will be given approval in the near future.
"We had a positive meeting," Binotto said. "We are happy to support the concept.
"There are still a few details that need to be addressed that we are still discussing and working on, but I don't think they will be stoppers.
"It is only a matter of analysing the proposal in all the aspects but we are clearly working and hopefully, in the coming days, it can be announced."
The sprint race proposals have been met with positivity throughout the grid with teams working together on the plans.
Williams team principal Simon Roberts added: "We support the idea. We have certainly been working closely and I think the other teams have as well, with Formula 1.
"I think most of the technical stuff is pretty much there. It was a positive meeting so we need to see what happens next."
