Perez explains all-new 'career favourite' Red Bull helmet design

Sergio Perez has shown for the first time the new helmet he has designed especially for his maiden Formula 1 campaign with Red Bull.

After being announced as a Red Bull driver, Perez has since worked on the helmet with his brother Antonio and motorsport design specialists MDM.

After adopting the colour pink in past helmet designs while with Racing Point, the 31-year-old has been able to return to his favourite colour yellow.

The Mexican has also included his country's flag on top, his race number 11, his inspiring saying 'Never Give Up' on the rear, and the Red Bull logo on each side.

A delighted Perez said: "I'm very pleased to have finally made my first Red Bull helmet in my career.

"I was so much looking forward to this moment since I signed for Red Bull. Obviously, the helmet is something very special for a driver.

"As you know yellow has always been my colour but in the past, I had to keep it pink, so I'm pleased to finally go back to a yellow helmet.

"We've got the [Mexican] flag on top. It's very nice because you can see it while I'm driving. The on-board camera always puts the flag on top, so for me, as a Mexican, that's something very special.

"Another special touch is that I've put the 'Never Give Up' on the back. Every time I put the helmet on I can see it, which is like a reminder not to give up at all.

"And we've got the Red Bull there, which looks pretty awesome."

Perez added: "I have to say I'm really pleased with my helmet. It's definitely my most favourite helmet in my career. I've done plenty of helmets but this one to me is pretty special.

"I got a lot of help from my brother, a special thanks to MDM for the design. We worked for a couple of weeks on it, and also to my brother who helped me out to come to the final design."
