NASCAR driver Ryan Newman has been discharged from the Halifax Medical Center where he had been recovering from a huge last-lap crash in the Daytona 500.
Newman had been leading the Daytona 500, the headline race on the NASCAR calendar, as the last lap began, but a tap from the rear sent him into a spin. His car then flipped and was hit at over 200mph by another driver.
Team Roush Fenway Racing released a statement on Wednesday saying that Newman was 'awake and speaking', but posted a single image on social media on Wednesday evening of the driver leaving the Halifax Medical Center, walking hand in hand with his two daughters.
