Former rookie Norris has his targets set for 2020; “I’m expecting good things and I want to be confident but at the same time I want us to be realistic.
“There’s a lot of things I need to improve on, myself and my driving. It’s just trying to get closer to the top teams, getting more points and better results.”
The young British driver also spoke of his personal highlights of his first season in F1 with two races in particular as his favourites; “ I had a lot of highlights from last season good and bad, but the first two races being my highlights, with Australia as my first race and Bahrain being my best finish of P6.”
Meanwhile Spanish teammate Sainz feels that this is his time to perform; “At an age of 25 I feel that I am in the right moment of my career to perform at my best and to keep looking forward from what we did in 2019 and keep getting stronger.”
Whilst he feels this could be the best he performs, the former Toro Rosso driver knows that McLaren will have high standards throughout; “The expectations are obviously going to be high going into testing and the first race but we need to keep our feet to the ground.
“We know this is a transitional year between 2020 and 2021 with the new rules but we take that opportunity to keep going forward and taking that momentum from a positive 2019 and we want to keep growing on that.”

McLaren will hope that Norris and Sainz can build and move forward and put together a strong season in 2020.
