Vettel excited by 'clever' SF1000

Sebastian Vettel can't wait to get into the cockpit of the SF1000 at preseason testing in Barcelona on 19 February after launching their 2020 Formula One challenger on Tuesday.

The first team to hold a grand launch ceremony for their car, moving away from the traditional launch in Maranello to the Romolo Valli Municipal Theatre in Reggio Emilia, rumours from Ferrari had suggested a radical design change.

While the SF1000 may look fairly consistent with the SF90 from 2019 at first glance, the devil is in the detail with lots of focus having been placed on the packaging and rear portion of the car.

Vettel, entering his sixth season with the Scuderia, praised the efforts of the design team and engineers at the launch event.

"It's an incredible achievement. There are obviously a lot of hours that go into [designing] a car," said Vettel. "I like it a lot. We had the opportunity to obviously see it a little bit before and to have also a direct comparison with last years car. You can really spot the differences, especially when it comes to packaging and the back part of the car. Everything sits a lot tighter so there has been a lot of work behind that because it's not so easy, so we found some clever solutions to be able to achieve that.

"I can't wait to be able to drive it, because that's obviously more exciting than looking at it, so one more week to wait but it's fantastic."
