Williams fire up the FW43

Williams are already in a better place than in 2019 as the team fire up the FW43 ahead of their February 17 launch date.

Williams endured a torrid preseason in 2019. Missing a large portion of the limited preseason testing, Williams were forced to run a condensed development programme which, if the car had of been something special to begin with, would not have been a problem.

Sadly, the FW42 will go down as one of the worst cars ever produced by the team with problems, one of the largest being an aerodynamic stalling effect being generated whenever turning the car, leading to a single point return for the year.

While not expected to bring Williams back to the front, improvements are hoped for in 2020 with the team focused on a midfield battle. Indeed, the hashtags used to promote the FW43's launch - #WeAreWilliams, #WeAreRacing and #WeAreFighting - signal the intent of the team.

Williams have retained the services of Mercedes junior driver George Russell for 2020 but have replaced Robert Kubica with Canadian Nicholas Latifi.
