Button awkward on Hamilton relationship: 'Just say you don't like him!'
Jenson Button was giving nothing away in an awkward moment that the world champion was quizzed about his relationship with former McLaren team-mate Lewis Hamilton.
After winning the drivers' championship with Brawn in 2009, Button switched to McLaren, teaming with Hamilton for three seasons before his fellow Brit jumped ship to Mercedes, where a dominant run would await.
The pair famously collided in the 2011 Canadian Grand Prix, forcing Hamilton to retire in a race that Button went on to win in remarkable circumstances.
Button has previously described the pair's relationship as "weird", writing for the Telegraph in 2017: "Midway through that first season, I was ahead of Lewis in the points. Did he like being beaten by his teammate? Probably not, but he’s a competitor and I’m sure that like me he relished the challenge. That’s why we do what we do.
"Personally, he was fine with me, but you could just tell he was a little bit peeved. I don’t think that I was to his taste, if I’m honest. And things took a bit of a turn for the worse in Turkey, when we almost had a collision that led to a minor falling-out between us."
In an appearance this week on radio station TalkSport, Button discussed the current F1 champion among other things, but could not be moved when asked: "Is Lewis a nice guy?"
