Mercedes-linked HWA takes Formula 2 spot
There will be a new name on the Formula 2 grid in 2020, with HWA Racelab having been confirmed as a replacement for Arden.
British-based Arden, co-founded by Red Bull team principal Christian Horner, has raced at F2's relative level since the late 1990s but says it will "step back from the category in order to explore other avenues".
The team was rocked earlier this year when its driver Anthoine Hubert was killed in a crash at F2's feature race in Belgium.
HWA have been Arden's engineering and technology partner in 2019 and will take their place for next year.
The Mercedes-affiliated team have a long and distinguished past in DTM, winning many titles, but left the touring-car championship in 2018 to take up a year in Formula E as a predecessor to Mercedes' factory team in the all-electric series.
HWA also moved into Formula 3 this year as part of a wide reshuffle of junior categories.
Jake Hughes scored the bulk of the team's points, securing a pole position in France and taking the team's sole win in Austria
The team's CEO Ulrich Fritz said: "We are looking forward to this challenge in another Formula series for young drivers. Alongside our involvement in the FIA Formula 3 Championship, we are now also represented on the next level of the FIA Formula Pyramid, ensuring a continuous development of talented motorsport youngsters.
“It is also further evidence of the 360° motorsport expertise of HWA. From the promotion of young drivers and Formula E to the DTM and GT racing, we now cover an incredibly broad spectrum."
