Hubert replaced for remainder of F2 season
Arden Motorsport have hired Formula 2 veteran Artem Markelov to replace Anthoine Hubert for the remainder of the season.
After Hubert was killed in a crash during Belgium's feature race, Arden entered just Tatiana Calderon into the Monza round.
Markelov has five previous seasons of F2/GP2 under his belt and was runner-up to Charles Leclerc in the 2017 drivers' championship.
The Russian, who finished sixth and fourth in Monaco this year for MP Motorsport, will race with the number 22 on his car. The 19 that Hubert used has been retired for the rest of the year as a mark of respect.
Markelov's first assignment comes this weekend at his home race in Sochi.
He said: "First of all, I want to give my best to the family of Anthoine.
"This guy was not only a good driver, he was a great man who was happy all the time and always gave us a smile. He showed everyone his talent.
"Thanks to the team for trusting me in this situation and I'm going do my best for them. We are going to drive together in memory of Anthoine.
"I'm really happy I'll be driving for BWT Arden for the rest of the championship.
"It's a really nice opportunity to drive at my home Grand Prix again. I hope for a strong result and I'll work hard to achieve it."
Sauber Junior Team by Charouz also recently announced that Matevos Isaakyan would take Juan Manuel Correa's seat for the Russian and Abu Dhabi rounds.
Correa was involved in the incident with Hubert at Spa and remains hospitalised as he recovers from leg fractures, spinal damage and respiratory failure.
He was taken out of an induced coma this week as his condition continues to gradually improve, but doctors have warned that he faces "a race against time" to undergo crucial surgery on his injuries.
