Hartley laments 'unfinished business' in F1
Brendon Hartley believes he still has "unfinished business" in Formula 1, as he looked back on a tough individual season, with Toro Rosso announcing on Monday that the New Zealander would be replaced in their 2019 driving line-up by Formula 2 driver, Alexander Albon.
The Toro Rosso driver has had an abject 2018 campaign, having collected just four points all season, leaving him in 19th place in the drivers' championship, with just Sergey Sirotkin of Williams in behind.
As the season has went on, speculation has mounted that he would be replaced following the conclusion of the final Grand Prix of the season, and the rumours were confirmed as Albon was announced as the partner for Daniel Kvyat for 2019.
Hartley reckons that bad luck has played a small portion in his lack of success, but still regrets goals that were not achieved in his time within the sport.
"Obviously I feel like I have unfinished business in Formula One," he admitted.
"I’ve finished the season much stronger than I started.
Thank you for your commitment this year, Brendon!
All the best for the future! pic.twitter.com/l2FcWltP4X — Toro Rosso (@ToroRosso) November 26, 2018
"I had some tough times, a lot of pressure put on. I think I reacted well and I’ve come out the end of the season a much stronger individual, driver, and really happy with my progression through the season.
"I haven’t always had opportunities to score points, sometimes outside of my control, definitely some missed opportunities in the beginning. But I’ve been a good team player all year and I know I’ve very much contributed to the performance."
