VIDEO: Verstappen SMASHES Red Bull in Monaco practice
Max Verstappen's chances of taking part in qualifying for the Monaco Grand Prix are in huge doubt after he smashed his Red Bull into the wall in Saturday's practice session. Verstappen clipped the barrier at the second swimming pool chicane before hopping into the wall, wrecking the right-hand side of his car.
Red Bull's mechanics will have just two hours to put Verstappen's mangled car back together after he crashed in the same spot as he did in 2016.
Verstappen was perhaps put off by the slow-moving Renault of Carlos Sainz Jr, but took too much kerb and broke a right-front steering rod on the barriers before skirting into the wall on the run down to La Rascasse.

It will come as a huge shame for Red Bull, with Verstappen and team-mate Daniel Ricciardo quickest of any drivers across each practice session in Monaco.
Verstappen appeared to take a telling-off from Dr Helmut Marko as he returned to the Red Bull garage.
The incident puts Verstappen back under pressure after an error-prone start to 2018, which came to a head as he and Ricciardo took each other out in Baku.
The Dutchman returned to the podium last time out in Barcelona, however his chances now rest in the hands of Red Bull's ability to put his car back together.
He will also hope that no serious damage has been done to engine or gearbox - a change could earn him a grid penalty on a track that is notoriously difficult to overtake.
