Raikkonen: Nice to see unpredictable F1
Kimi Raikkonen says Formula 1's current uncertain nature is "nice" for fans and drivers alike. Mercedes' dominance of the hybrid era appears to be over, with Sebastian Vettel taking two victories and Daniel Ricciardo the other in the first three races of 2018.
The Silver Arrows had not gone three grands prix without a victory since the regulation changes of 2014, but they have struggled to keep pace with the Scuderia particularly so far this year.
Though team-mate Vettel has taken both of Ferrari's wins this year, in Australia and Bahrain, Raikkonen has delivered impressive times across all three events in 2018.
The Iceman is closing in on a century of races since his last F1 race win, but he could stand to benefit from the shaken up order of things.
"Pure speed, with everybody on the same tyres in a race... it's difficult, very difficult, to say. I think it's nice like that, for everybody to watch, because nobody really knows," he said.
"Everybody would love to know but nobody really [does] because it changes from race to race and such a small difference makes a big difference in the end result.
"You just have to wait and see. It might change from race to race, and who runs what tyres
"If you ask anybody, it's a bit tricky to give you an answer.
"I think a lot of the end result [in China] depended on whether you had better tyres than others, when you could offset yourself to the others.
"Obviously, it's a big part of the game, and it made a big difference, [as did] the safety car."
