Leclerc: I'm more like Hamilton than Vettel
Charles Leclerc feels he is closer aligned to Lewis Hamilton than Sebastian Vettel, and has revealed he is following the Mercedes star's footsteps by launching his own fashion range.
Leclerc's promotion to Ferrari, and recent victories at Spa-Francorchamps and Monza have launched the Monegasque driver's star and is already one of the biggest names on the grid, in just his second year in F1.
Team-mate Vettel has shied away from the spotlight through his career, while fellow world champion Hamilton has been a regular at high-profile events, and has launched a career in fashion alongside Tommy Hilfiger.
Hamilton has often said that his extra-curricular activities help him focus when back on the track – something Leclerc identifies with.
"Like Lewis, I'm about to start my own clothing line, it's something I wanted to do for a long time," Leclerc told Morotorsport.com.
"On this front I am more like Lewis, I like to test myself on other fronts: it is an approach that helps me to switch off after the race weekends."
Leclerc has six pole positions to his name this season, more than any other driver, and only Hamilton has scored more than his two wins.
Summing up his first year in Scuderia scarlet, he added: "I'm happy, my main target was to have an evolution during the championship, and obviously I haven't finished my work yet. I will be happy if from here to the end of the World Championship I continue to grow.
"I analyse everything I do to see if I can do better, that's how I grew over the years. When I put the car on the wall, as in Germany, I immediately understand that it's my fault, I can only take it out on myself.
"To grow you must understand and admit your mistakes, it is an approach that works for me, it is not necessarily the same for everyone."
