Gasly: I don't pay attention to Red Bull rumours
Pierre Gasly insists he doesn’t pay attention to any rumours surrounding his career which suggest he could be replaced by Red Bull for 2020.
Over the last few months, speculation has mounted that the team are actively looking for someone to take the seat of the Frenchman, who has disappointed behind the wheel since making the step up from Toro Rosso.
He has, more often than not, been easily bettered by team-mate Max Verstappen, while Red Bull bosses such as Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko have constantly been forced to defend his performances and future.
As for the man himself, he is ambivalent to the rumours.
“No. I don’t really pay attention to this kind of thing. I just try to do my job as good as possible, work with the guys and that’s the only thing I do,” he told Motorsport.com
Gasly is sixth in the drivers’ championship for 2019, and after a tumultuous first half of the season, he is looking to rest and recuperate in preparation for improved performances heading into the autumn.

“The weekend, as I said, started well. And we had good pace, even compared to the other guys, better than usual. And then yeah, from FP3 was just different. So yeah, no clear answer at the moment. Just need to understand and analyse with the guys,” he said after the Hungarian Grand Prix.
“So I think it is good for everyone to have a break now, switch off and also review the first few months: What went well, and what we could have done better with the guys, and yeah, just come back stronger for the second part of the season.
“I think for sure there’s been a lot of lessons learned since the beginning of the year. There is still some more to do, but yeah, we’ll take the time to make sure we come back sharper for the second part of the season.”
