Verstappen reveals how he won German GP
Max Verstappen admits that the problematic conditions of the Hockenheimring for the German Grand Prix on Sunday meant that he simply had to make fewer mistakes than everyone else in order to win.
Despite warnings of sunshine and heat during the week, the track was covered in heavy rain throughout the night and into the morning, creating a slick surface which many drivers struggled on.
Numerous drivers crashed into the barrier at the final corner, including Lewis Hamilton, Charles Leclerc, and Valtteri Bottas.
Even the eventual winner Verstappen spun completely around at one point, only to recover for the win.
He reckons the key to his victory was to avoid errors on the sometimes treacherous conditions.
“It was amazing to win at the end but it was really tricky out there. To make the right calls, you have to remain focused,” he said after claiming the flag.
“We picked the slick tyre, we had a moment. A nice 360.

“To come out on top here, it was all about trying to not make too many mistakes. Really tricky conditions but it was amazing to win."
Despite being one of the youngest drivers on the grid, Verstappen displayed a veteran understanding of how to deal with the wet weather.
“Well, you learn, over the years,” he said when asked how he remained so calm like a more experienced driver.
“I was really happy with the performance today.”
