Verstappen: Brazil doesn't suit Red Bull

Max Verstappen is looking forward to the challenge of competing in the penultimate race of the season at the Brazil Grand Prix this weekend, but believes that Red Bull face an uphill task to make an impact as the Interlagos track "doesn't suit" them.

Last season, Verstappen and Daniel Ricciardo finished in sixth and seventh place respectively, but were considerably far behind both Ferrari and Mercedes drivers who made up the top four.

Despite Verstappen's reservations, he admits anything could happen and is hoping for a result similar to his podium spot gained in 2016.

“In general Interlagos doesn’t suit our car that well, but after finishing on the podium there in 2016 and winning last week in Mexico, anything can happen in the race." the Dutchman told verstappen.nl.

"I’ve had some great battles and overtakes there and I’m hoping for another exciting race. The Brazilian fans are so loud and because the narrow starting grid is so close to the grandstand you can hear them cheering when you’re sat on the grid.”

Verstappen went on to praise the local cuisine near Interlagos, but confessed he is still watching his figure before the end of the campaign, which finishes with the Abu Dhabi GP in a few weeks.

”The food in Brazil is really good and the Churrascaria restaurants have amazing grilled meat," Verstappen continued.

"Although it’s nearly the end of the season I still have to be careful what I eat in order to stay in shape, which is a shame as I would like to enjoy the local cuisine even more.”
